Could you throw some insight on water damage that occurs in the owners cabin on the outboard side of the berth. Two boats listed have the same area damaged.

Hi Ed, nice to hear from you. You'd be better off posting your question in the forum as it gets checked more often by more people. If you need any help with that, just drop me a line. CF :)

Hello!
We are proud new owners of a 1984 Krogen 38' named 'Sweet Memories', hull #55. Searching the internet, we have found information very rare and need all the help we can get to restore her original beauty. Your site is a wonderful find for us!

Found your site last night after googling "krogen restorations". What a great site. Pat and I are looking at restoring Epicurean (hull 22) and need all the help we can get. We had the pleasure of being her maintenance captains a few years ago while she was here in the great lakes but then her owner took her south and she's fallen on hard times (mostly neglect) It looks like we will be able to bring her back to Michigan and address her needs:lots of leaks and some interior collapse. I'm hoping to get some insight from the forum on " best practices" and "priorities" based on your collective experiences. I'm sure that everything on deck will need t be removed, repaired and/or rebed as will the chainplates and port-lights. What I'm less comfortable is checking/repairing the wiring below and behind various paneling maintaining. All feedback will be greatly appreciated. Like all of you we love the boat and have never seen her equal and don't want to see her continuing to waste away in Florida. Neither do we want a to take on a hopeless project. I'm retired and have plenty of time and am pretty handle in most things (electric aside). Thanks |

I really enjoyed your web site. So much so that it was part of the reason why we decided to buy "Freyja" a 1981 Krogen. I'm sure we will stay in touch with you and thanks for your web site, it's a great resource. By the way we also met with the owners of Principia, they were also a great resource

Amazing site! Are you a website designer by profession? I have been thinking about buying one of these for some time now. Your site and stories helping to push things further in that direction. But I am curious if after sailing Elsa for some time now if there are any regrets on the choice. How is the sailing performance and handling characteristics?
-
Hi Rob, Really glad you like the site. :) Yes, I do design websites. I will post your question on the forum to see if you get any extra answers, & will e-mail you in a sec.

Mr. Russel posted that he was looking at "Greensleeves" This is one of the rare fixed keel boats that draws 5 feet. I was the owner of this boat 1993 - 1996 and loved every moment aboard. Crossing the Gulf Stream was a breeze. Bring her up the Pacific Northwest and I will buy it from you. (Her orginal name was "Pedrigal") |

Dear Elsas owners...My wife and I were surfing the net for Krogens and behold we came upon a replica, older sister of our vessel(Snuffy) a blue hulled 1985 cutter rigged Krogen. It's taken us up and down the West Coast of Florida, to the Keys and the Dry Tortugas. Great boat, seaworthy, comfortable, I wouldn't trade it for the world...Mike Conway |

Hello,
I'm considering purchasing a Krogen 38 for a planned circumnavigation and wondering if you have any thoughts/advice?
In particular, I'm wondering how the owners' berth functions at sea? As an athwartships berth it seems like it would be a problem.
Also, have you ever had any problems with the centerboards? I have this image in my head of being out in the middle of the ocean during a big blow and having them not work.
Any other advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks much!
Cheers,
Bill Updike |

I have been looking for a livaboard/cruiser for about five years and have just seen a Kadey Krogen 38 today in Maryland. It is on the hard and I toured the interior and fell in love with the boat. I've read over your website and it is GREAT. I would like any feedback from your experience in her handling, the broker noted she is well rounded in the hull and may not be the best choice for open crossings, contrary to Jim Lrogen's writeup.
Thanks for taking the time and setting this site up.

In Costa Rica exist two krogen. I have one but I dont know where is the owner of the other boat, I think that he is not in Costa Rica but the boat is here. The people when saw the boat alone they stole many parts. they cut the deck to make it a fishinboat. If I can I will take pictures and send it to you later. Send me the email that I can contact you better. Good Luck! Julian. |

We have never seen a boat taken from the water before. The way it was done was very interesting to see. From the skill of the crane driver to the boat transport driver (whose experience showed when the only exit from the boat yard was through the tiny space left to him in King Street. It was excellent and extremely professional.
Now we have seen the 'before' photos, look forward to seeing some of the 'after' photos some time in the future. |
